Rainbow Six Siege PS5, Xbox Series X Upgrade Gets Release Date and New Trailer

Ubisoft has announced the release date for the next gen versions of Rainbow Six Siege and what improvements fans can expect when they boot up Siege on a PS5 or Xbox Series X.

Arriving in just over a week, Rainbow Six Siege will offer 2 different modes of focus on the new-gen versions of the game focusing on either game performance or a higher resolution.

For players looking to get the best visuals out of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game, Rainbow Six Siege will support 4K resolution. Of course 4K capabilities will depend on the type of TV players have with the requirement being a TV that supports 4K and, if possible, 120 Hz. It’s worth noting that Rainbow Six Siege will not feature ray tracing with only a few noticeable improvements on existing textures within the game itself.

For players who want a more fluid experience, the performance mode will offer 120 frames-per-second guaranteed which could mean the difference in encounters across Rainbow Six Siege‘s many new and existing multiplayer maps and modes. The focus on reduced load times on next gen consoles also means players wont have to wait long between matches as they go from game to game.

In addition, the launch of the next gen versions means cross-play will become a huge focus in Siege with PS4 and Xbox One owners having a whole new player base to face off against. However cross-platform play is not implemented yet between Sony and Microsoft players but may still be in the cards. The PS5 and Xbox Series X improvements will also trickle down to the last gen versions with a quicker boot up of the game across the board.

The PS5 version of Rainbow Six Siege will see some unique features added thanks to the new Activity Cards that the PS5 provides in its UI. Players who want to quickly get in the game and play will notice playlists in the Activity Cards focusing on Ranked, Quick Match, and Time Limited Events making it easier to jump in a game and play a round or two.

The PS5’s DualSense controller will also have some unique capabilities thanks to the controllers haptic feedback. Players will notice the controller’s sound and vibrations that are impacted with what’s going on nearby including feeling the difference in shooting a pistol compared to a semi-auto. The feature is aimed at helping with both immersion and giving players a heads-up on what may be around the corner.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming December 1.
