Mario Kart is a franchise that has impacted the gaming scene since it was first conceptualized as Super Mario Kart for the SNES. Since that time, Mario Kart has grown to become one of the most successful kart racing game franchises in the industry today. Although, it begs to question, of the characters available on the most recent entry in the franchise, which character is the most popular?
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has especially seen a great deal of success. Numerous Nintendo fans even consider it a must-have title for the Nintendo Switch. Such a popular game has easily managed to accrue a significantly large fanbase that spans a large number of fans from all across the world, even in Europe.
A European website by the name of Redex specializes in cars and motor vehicles, selling various products that help in the assistance of maintaining customer’s personal vehicles. Apparently, the company is also a very big fan of Mario Kart, and the company went on to survey two thousand British people on what their favorite Mario Kart characters and courses were. However, the results were split almost evenly between Mario and Princess Peach as the control group’s favorite Mario Kart racer.
Mario managed to beat out Peach by a mere two votes, but even so, between two thousand people, that is an incredibly close margin. What was even more interesting was the fact that the Villager from Animal Crossing managed to place in the top ten. Though, favorite racer was not the only aspect of Mario Kart that Redex was interested in asking people about.
In addition to racers, Redex surveyed people asking what their favorite courses, items, and overall Mario Kart games are. The survey said that the favorite Mario Kart course was the notorious Rainbow Road, which is not that surprising a choice, considering that the course has existed since Super Mario Kart. In fact, one Mario Kart Live player managed to 3-D print a version of Rainbow Road for the live action game.
According to the survey, the best item in the game is the Mushroom speed boost item, and the most annoying item is the Bullet Bill. Lastly, Redex showed what the company’s all-time favorite Mario Kart game is and the final result was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but this also included nine other games including titles like Mario Kart: Double Dash and Mario Kart DS. Overall, it’s a great way to celebrate the franchise as a whole.
