WWE Superstar Austin Creed Announced as G4TV Host | Game Rant

While the long-awaited revival of the popular gaming television network is not happening until 2021, fans had the opportunity to experience a G4TV Reunion Special episode that aired today on its YouTube channel. The Gravython charity event was a host to a number of popular streamers and also saw former hosts Olivia Munn, Kevin Pereira, Adam Sessler, Morgan Webb, Kristin Adams, Blair Herter reunite for the first time in over a decade. While the event was a nostalgic ride for fans – taking them through the most iconic moments of the show over the course of years – it also announced one of its new hosts, Xavier Woods (AKA Austin Creed).

Everyone was taken by surprise earlier this year when G4TV announced its grand return, years after it went dark. WWE Superstar Austin Creed was one of the first to show interest in hosting for the channel as part of a Twitter Campaign that blew up pretty quickly. His hashtag #Creed4G4 received widespread popularity across social media, thereby leading him to announce his bid to host. Creed, who aside from being a WWE superstar, also runs a popular gaming YouTube channel called Up Up Down Down, was part of today’s Gravython charity event when the news was announced to the public.

The announcement was made by G4’s Head of Content Kevin Sabbe, who expressed shared his enthusiasm for adding Creed to the channel. “We could not be happier to welcome Xavier to the family and introduce the first member of G4’s new cast,” he says. “The list of on-air talent with advanced degrees in psychology, unbridled passion for video games, and multiple WWE Tag Team Championships is not long. We loved Xavier’s creative #Creed4G4 campaign and cannot wait to showcase his many talents throughout G4’s developing slate of programming. Xavier stands as a fantastic first representative of an exciting and diverse team that we are assembling for G4 and will be introducing in the coming weeks and months.”

Creed also expressed his disbelief, stating that he never expected his campaign to gain such unprecedented popularity and that he’s honored and humbled to be joining the G4 team as one of the hosts. While this was a memorable moment for Austin and his fans, the Gravython multi-day event also saw streamers such as DrLupo, Chica, and Mari Takahashi raising funds for a multitude of non-profit organizations including Codepath, Boys & Girls Club of America, Girls Who Code, No Kid Hungry, the National Fragile X Foundation, Black Girls Code, and Connor’s Cure. Donations can still be made until November 28 by going to Gravython’s official website.

While the return of G4TV has fans incredibly excited, it will be interesting to see how it pans out in a time when there’s already an abundance of gaming influencers, original shows, podcasts, and such. While there’s no confirmation on what G4 will bring to the table next year, reviving some of its popular shows such as Attack of the Show! and X-Play is high on the list of fan requests.

G4TV will be making a comeback in 2021.
