For PlayStation fans, getting a PlayStation 5 has been somewhat difficult for these past few weeks. With the PlayStation 5 being very popular, demand for the next-generation console has been extremely high and it is selling out left and right. Luckily, Sony has confirmed that more consoles are on the way, and people will have a better chance of getting one.
Over on its official Twitter account, PlayStation has released a statement acknowledging the demand for the PlayStation 5 and how it plans on restocking the console. To be more specific, the company thanked fans for making the PlayStation 5 launch “our biggest console launch ever,” and that due to high demand, more PS5s will be shipped to retailers before the end of the year. Finally, Sony concluded by telling customers to stay in touch with their local retailers, presumably for updates on when PS5 inventories will be restocked.
Seeing such high demand for the PS5 makes a lot of sense. For instance, the amount of PlayStation 5 launch titles that released alongside the console is respectable to say the least. With games like Demon’s Souls, Godfall, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales (just to name a few) creating hype and demand for the PS5, one can see why the console is being bought out so quickly. Although some of the PS5 games are available for the PS4, the PS5’s power and performance offers a much better experience than the PS4, meaning that the same games will play and feel better.
One thing that is worth pointing out is the comment section underneath PlayStation’s tweet. According to a number of users, part of the reason why the PS5 is selling out so quickly is due to scalpers. Based on what people are saying, scalper groups are securing a high amount of PS5 so that the consoles can be resold at ridiculous prices, so much so that PlayStation 5 fans have been going after scalpers or publicly shaming them for such a practice. Nonetheless, with more PS5s being shipped, desperate fans will not necessarily have to deal with scalpers in the near future.
One other last thing that can be said about the PS5 is that a decent amount of people have been reporting issues with the console. Although Sony has released updates for the PlayStation 5 that aim at fixing some of the issues, there are still other issues that are present. In other words, it would be best to wait a little bit longer before all the bugs and issues are ironed out in order to avoid potential disappointment from a malfunctioning PS5. Ultimately though, it’s all up to the customer.
The PlayStation 5 is available now.
