Cyberpunk 2077 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of 2020, with pre-release materials building up hype for quite some time now. But even with only weeks left until Cyberpunk’s December 10 release date, developer CD Projekt Red continues to reveal new information about the game. One of the most recent gameplay trailers showed off one of Cyberpunk 2077’s more interesting mods in action – an auto-translator mode for the game’s various languages.
CD Projekt Red has definitely been generous with Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-release material in recent months, showcasing new trailers and detailing tons of new features. Now, Cyberpunk 2077’s latest gameplay trailer shows off what the game is capable of running on brand new current-gen hardware like the PS5. However, fans got a bit more than just a graphical showcase from this gameplay trailer – they also got various looks at other aspects of the game like vehicular combat and shooting.
The trailer opens with Cyberpunk 2077’s character customization menus before getting into actual gameplay. Footage mostly focused on Night City exploration, culminating in a car chase shootout with V and their partner Jackie. Interestingly, Jackie is known to speak in Spanish sometimes, but his sentences oftentimes show up without translation. However, during the trailer, it appears that V has an auto-translation mod equipped that allows Jackie’s Spanish to be translated into English in real-time.
Cyberpunk 2077’s futuristic world is undoubtedly full of tech that players can take advantage of, but real-time translation mods could have some incredibly deep uses throughout the game. CD Projekt Red has spoken about the multi-cultural gangs and factions present throughout Night City, meaning this auto-translation mod could be invaluable in tense conflicts. It’s unclear how deep the mechanic might go, but there is an opportunity for the auto-translation mod to implact gameplay and decisions depending on if the player’s V has it.
The in-game applications for this auto-translation mod could be incredibly deep, but players will have to wait for the full game’s release to find out just how much use the mod has. Thankfully, it seems like there’s no chance that the game is getting delayed again, as retail copies of Cyberpunk 2077 are showing up in stores. Now, it’s only a matter of weeks before players get their hands on Cyberpunk 2077 to see what other crazy character mods CDPR has created.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release December 10, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a free next-gen upgrade planned for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
