Last month, Nintendo pulled another surprise Direct presentation filled with tons of information on upcoming Nintendo Switch games. One of the titles revealed during the last Nintendo Direct was Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, which is set to release on February 25, 2021, in Japan, and March 23 in North America and Europe.
Now, for players wondering how the game’s development is progressing, the Japanese publication Famitsu recently revealed that Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is 80% completed. Of course, given that the game’s release date is mere months away, this is hardly surprising. However, it is nice to know that the Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is progressing as scheduled. At the moment, the exact story of the upcoming game remains a mystery, but players should expect the classic Story of Seasons experience in the upcoming game.
To those who missed the first trailer, Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town will feature the usual farming mechanic that popularized the franchise. Players can also embark on several other activities such as improving buildings in Olive Town, commission accessories, participate in over 200 events, and even pursue a romantic relationship. The upcoming game will also feature two difficulty settings: Seedling Mode for beginners and Normal Mode for veteran farmers.
It is worth noting that the announcement of Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town was made just months after the release of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, the remake of the 2003 Harvest Moon game of the same name. Based on the preview trailer of Pioneers of Olive Town, it is apparent that the new game will adapt the same art-style as Friends of Mineral Town, which features chibi-style characters.
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is set to release on March 23, 2021, exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
