Red Dead Online Bridge Glitch Sends Players Flying | Game Rant

Rockstar has sold Red Dead Redemption 2 as a true-to-life simulation of what it was like to be an outlaw during the turn of the 19th century, and the same goes for Red Dead Onlinethe multiplayer component of the game. While it does offer players the opportunity to live out their fantasies of being a moonshiner, bounty hunter, or any of the game’s other options, glitches occasionally break the spell of authenticity.

A new bug discovered in the game sends players flying across the map, and sometimes even into Mexico. To perform the glitch, players need to travel to the two bridges located to the west of McFarlane Ranch, though it’s important to bring along some throwable weapons to make sure everything works correctly. Once there, head to the southern bridge and hit the third or fourth plank with throwable weapons until the bridge starts to act up.

Once the bridge starts to bug out, all players need to do is step on it and they’ll get to fly across Red Dead Redemption’s map, taking in all the sights and sounds until the game decides to send them plummeting towards the earth. While that seems like a deadly scenario, players have managed to survive many of the falls, even using the bug to explore the unused fort in Mexico. Eurogamer’s Emma Kent shared a video of the process.

Of course, it’s only a matter of time until Rockstar patches the glitch. Issues like this are entertaining, but they ruin the illusion that the developer is striving for with its multiplayer games, and with how popular it’s becoming, it’s unlikely that Rockstar hasn’t noticed it yet. Those that want to give it a try themselves should try to hurry up and do so, otherwise, they may miss their chance.

Red Dead Online has been a peculiar beast. It’s an evolution of what Rockstar accomplished with GTA Online, offering better graphics and more refined story elements, but there have been some dissatisfied community members. Red Dead Online content updates have been few and far between, with many upset that GTA Online receives better support despite being years older.

However, Red Dead Online is getting a standalone release, and that could be good news for fans. If there’s an influx of players, Rockstar will have more incentive to create new content for it, and that likely means expanding on the basics that have already been implemented in new ways, though it may also mean fewer bridge glitches.

Red Dead Online is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
