Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the latest entry in the popular first-person shooter franchise, has been celebrating the release of Nuketown ’84 with multiple playlists and a Double XP weekend. It has been a long-standing tradition for developer Treyarch to create new versions of the map in every Black Ops title, and based on a recent teaser it seems Call of Duty: Mobile will be bringing back another Nuketown variant in the near future.
As the mainline Call of Duty scene has been transitioning from 2019’s Modern Warfare to Black Ops Cold War, TiMi Studio’s mobile title has followed its own unique release schedule. Call of Duty: Mobile added Modern Warfare map Hackney Yard to kick off Season 12 earlier this month, and the season’s overall theme “Going Dark” has also included content such as night mode battles.
The official Call of Duty: Mobile Twitter account posted an image Saturday teasing a chilly map “coming to #CODMobile in the next season.” Fans in the comments of that tweet were quick to point out that the map looks to be Call of Duty: Black Ops 4‘s version of Nuketown, which is themed after traditional Soviet iconography and set in Chernobyl, Ukraine. The teaser image depicts a study with writing all over blackboards on the walls and ceiling as snow-covered buildings can be seen through a window.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s Nuketown ’84 is akin to a run-down scrapyard with structures constructed from loose material and covered in graffiti. For those who aren’t particularly interested in this take, Call of Duty: Mobile bringing back the Black Ops 4 variant should offer a fun alternative, likely complete with Nuketown staples such as the recurring RC-XD track.
As far as other additions coming to the mobile game’s Season 13 go, the official Twitter account has not dropped any additional hints. Season 12 is still in full swing, and Call of Duty: Mobile is currently releasing content to coincide with the Black Friday and Cyber Monday holiday weekend, so it’s likely more will become known as December rolls around.
In the meantime, players who have gotten their hands on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War can keep grinding away in the new title. As with any fresh release, issues like a Black Ops Cold War Nuketown glitch letting players go out of bounds are still being discovered, so it’s as good a time as any to suss out problems that Treyarch and Raven Software can fix going forward.
Call of Duty: Mobile is available now on Android and iOS devices.
