Dead by Daylight Update Launches A Binding of Kin Chapter

Behaviour Interactive’s asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight continues to expand with new content, platforms, and graphical updates. Dead by Daylight released on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X as those consoles launched last month, and today its newest chapter, “A Binding of Kin,” added the first new Killer and Survivor characters since the launch of this console generation.

A Binding of Kin is Chapter 18 in Dead by Daylight, and focuses on entirely original creations from Behaviour. The horror scenario this time is based on a pair of conjoined twins from 17th century France called Charlotte and Victor whose mother was “burned alive” by a cruel populace before they were imprisoned by a cult, according to a press release. The Entity, a mysterious being which controls Dead by Daylight‘s narrative, took them away after Victor died, and they became a Killer called The Twins for the sake of its twisted game.

A Survivor named Elodie Rakoto has been added alongside the Twins. The girl hails from Paris but has family ties to Madagascar, exhibits an interest in studying the occult, and her skills offer resourceful tricks such as finding extra items in empty chests or pretending to hide in lockers to deceive the Killer. Meanwhile, The Twins stand out from other multi-person Dead by Daylight Killers such as The Legion in that they are “comprised of two characters that can each be controlled individually.”

While Behaviour Interactive has a collection of unique characters in its catalogue, the asymmetrical horror game has become infamous for its array of crossovers. Dead by Daylight added Silent Hill‘s Pyramid Head earlier this year, and the A Binding of Kin update also adds its Nightmare on Elm Street DLC, including Freddie Krueger, onto Switch, Windows, Stadia, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.

In addition, the most recent update continues Behaviour Interactive’s A Realm Beyond initiative, which aims to update Dead by Daylight‘s maps and other graphics. Five maps for the Autohaven Wreckers and snowy Ormond were overhauled this time, alongside items such as the totem and the flashlight. At the same time, the 2020 Dead by Daylight advent calendar released to celebrate the holiday season.

The steady stream of large-scale updates, graphical improvements, and bug fixes shows Dead by Daylight‘s developers are committed to making their popular multiplayer game as strong as possible. However, in a recent interview with Game Rant, Head of Partnerships Mathieu Cote said Behaviour Interactive is working on new IP at the same time.

Dead by Daylight is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
