Chronos: Before the Ashes is finally here, and amidst all the excitement, some fans are wondering just how long it will take to beat the game. Due to Chronos‘ peculiar origins, it should come as no surprise that this game is on the shorter side of things. That said, how long players spend with it will largely depend on their own playstyle.
Most people that have been following Chronos: Before the Ashes are aware that it is a prequel to Remnant: From the Ashes, but many don’t know that it’s actually a retooled version of the 2016 virtual reality game Chronos.
For the most part, it’s background as a VR game doesn’t hinder it’s new life, but there are some noticeable things that carry over. As with most VR games, Chronos: Before the Ashes isn’t very long, though it provides enough of an experience to warrant carrying over to the standard format.
As Chronos: Before the Ashes has only just released, there isn’t a ton of information on how long it will take to beat, but an answer can be inferred by the runtime of Chronos instead. As a general rule, Chronos took players around 15 hours to beat if running through just the story and ignoring all side quests and extras. This number of course varies depending on the player’s skill and just how much they are trying to rush through things, but players can expect to get at least that much time out of it.
Adding in some extras and various side quests will of course lengthen the game, with some players claiming they spent up to 20 hours exploring the world of Chronos. Finally a 100% completion run will take a bit more time, presumably lasting 25 hours or longer depending on how thorough and efficient the player is. Again, these times are based off the original VR title, Chronos, so there may well be some changes in Chronos: Before the Ashes that extend or shorten the play time. Players will have to play through it themselves or wait for more people to share their experiences about the total runtime.
For those concerned about the relatively short completion time of Chronos: Before the Ashes, take heart in knowing that it is reflected in the game’s price. It won’t be selling for the full $60 price tag that players are used to, and is more than half off from the premium next generation $70 games. Players can get ahold of Chronos: Before the Ashes for just $30 if they’d like to try it out for themselves.
Chronos: Before the Ashes is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
