Now that November’s come to a close, PS Plus subscribers have the chance to get three new free games for this month. This time, the offerings are Worms Rumble, Just Cause 4, and Rocket Arena, all three of which can be played on either the new PS5 or the PS4 consoles.
Overall, fans didn’t seem too thrilled about this month’s PS Plus offerings, though expectations may have been set too high for the first full PS Plus month since the release of the new console. On the bright side, fans in December are gaining access to three games rather than just two, and one of them (Worms Rumble) is available as a native PS5 game.
The other two games, Just Cause 4 and Rocket Arena, are PS4 games. Thanks to backwards compatibility, both of these can be played on the PS5, but fans shouldn’t expect to see all of its new features in use. For example, Worms Rumble might make better use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers than the other games.
Worms Rumble is a bit of a controversial pick, as many players are unfamiliar with the franchise as a whole and those that are familiar weren’t too happy about the departure from the series’ formula. Even so, players can jump into this hectic arena based battle for free this month. Likewise, though Rocket League is extremely popular, the general opinion seems to be that players that will enjoy it already have it. For those that may have missed it, be sure to check it out while it’s free this month.
Finally, Just Cause 4 sees players take control of Rico Rodriguez once again, as he embarks on a journey through a large open world to take down a private military force. As the fourth entry in the series, fans may be hesitant to try it out, players can rest assured that the story of Just Cause 4 will still make sense for the most part without any prior knowledge. Unfortunately, it was one of the worse received entries in the otherwise critically acclaimed series.
As usual, all three of these games will be available to PS Plus subscribers for free for the entirety of December, with the offer ending on January 5th next month. Players should also keep in mind that as part of the PS5’s launch, Bugsnax is still free as well until January 4, 2021, so be sure to grab that as well.
PS Plus games for December 2020 are available now.
