Ryan Reynolds’ New Ad Shows a Match Made in Hell for 2020

Ryan Reynolds does not rest on his laurels and there’s no better proof of that than his own ad agency’s name, Maximum Effort Productions. Under the banner of making “films, TV and content for the personal amusement of Ryan Reynolds”, Maximum Effort is constantly putting out ads that by far exceed the company’s sole goal, instead providing joy and laughter for everyone.

Of course, great advertising is nothing without actual products, so it helps that Reynolds is personally invested in the same brands he promotes like Aviation Gin and Mint Mobile, as well as having a board seat at Match Group, Inc. which owns popular dating apps like Tinder, Match.com, OkCupid and PlentyOfFish. Now, Reynolds has finally put his advertising talent’s at Match’s services to show off a couple made in hell.

As it turns out, Satan can end up feeling a bit lonely while ruling over hell, thus like most people the Devil finds himself swiping through dating apps every now and then, until one tragic day 11 months ago he found his perfect match, who just happened to live nearby in the depths of the underworld. Watch the entire video to get a glimpse at 2020’s most fascinating love story.

Blasting a re-recorded version of Taylor Swift’s “Love Story”, lent by the pop sensation as a sneak peek of her upcoming work, the “Match Made in Hell” tells the story of how Satan met his soulmate, a girl named 2020. The ad shows the well-known pair doing typical couples activities like going out for picnics in desolated sports arenas, working out together in closed off gyms, going to the movies (watching Wonder Woman?) and taking selfies in front of literal dumpster fires.

The ad ends with Satan and “2020” wishing for this year to never end, though after living through their honeymoon phase, it’s unclear how their relationship will evolve come 2021. For onlookers this love story also ends on the wishful note to “Make 2021 your year”, so for everyone’s sake Satan and 2020 are in it for the long run in order to avoid any potential rebounds with a younger 2021.

Until Disney finally sorts out a new release date for Free Guy, Reynolds’ closest movie appearance in the near future not counting The Croods: New Age, his fans will certainly be happy with him being a constant source of pure internet bliss. Maybe Reynolds could even make soccer more popular once the documentary for his recently acquired Wrexham AFC finds a home.
