For better or worse, Temtem has not hidden its many Pokemon-like qualities, with the latest trailer for the game continuing that theme. Breaking down the core mechanics of Temtem, a new gameplay overview trailer lets players know everything they are able to do in the multiplayer creature-catching game.
While Temtem was praised by some when it came to PC, the game never fully took off, making its upcoming launch as a timed PS5 console exclusive a second chance at success. To build hype for the early access release, Temtem’s gameplay trailer breaks down many aspects of the game. Beginning with a look at the three starter Temtem and moving into an explanation regarding the game’s stamina-based fighting system, Temtem’s trailer covers a lot of ground in under four minutes.
While Temtem may lack the polish seen in the majority of Pokemon titles given their Nintendo status, one thing Temtem does do better than Pokemon is co-op play. The entirety of Temtem’s story can be played with a friend, with exploration and PvP battles available as well. The trailer also highlights the “dozens” of Temtem that players can collect within the game, and additional time is spent highlighting the ultra-rare Temtem that can be gathered in the wild. Like in Pokemon, the creatures can be evolved, leading to even more powerful variants.
Aside from showing off some of the coolest-looking Temtem, the trailer showcases the game’s cosmetic system. Offering players dozens of customization options for their “tamers,” the trailer emphasizes the amount of choice players have in choosing their look. Having so many cosmetics makes sense given Temtem‘s primary focus being on co-op play, and the MMORPG’s developers assure players that they will find new outfit shops in every major location.
Rounding out the Temtem trailer is a promise that the game will see continuous support, with a Temtem roadmap previously released that shares info on some of the additions planned for the game. Crema, the studio behind the game, has already added a Safari-like area and Kisiwa Island, which also brought new creatures. With Temtem still being in early access and the developers dedicated to providing more locations and items for players, the game has a bright future.
While Temtem’s PS4 and Xbox One versions were canceled, next-gen and Switch users will still get to experience the game in the near future. For PS5 fans specifically, that comes next Tuesday, as players on the latest Sony console will get to explore the Pokemon-like world of Temtem in just a few days’ time.
Temtem is available now on PC, and will be available for Early Access on PS5 starting December 8. Switch and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
