Genshin Impact Leaks New Character Tohama | Game Rant

One Twitter user has reportedly leaked a character model image of an upcoming fighter, Tohama, in Genshin Impact, but even says themself in the post, “a grain of salt,” likely because there’s not much credence to go off of and it conflicts with past alleged datamined information.

Genshin Impact has been no stranger to information leaks since its release back in September. Just a few hours ago, news of the Version 1.2 update leaked, revealing what’s assumed to be new playable characters in the open-world RPG, because winning characters in the gacha is the main draw of the game. Recently, a Twitter user going by “NEP NEP Genshin Impact Leaks” hinted at skins for the characters, a fan-anticipated feature that many are hoping will arrive soon.

Now, the same Twitter user, NEP NEP, has posted an image of what they are claiming to be an upcoming five-star Pyro character by the name of Tohama. Presumably, the image appears to be datamined if it’s legitimate, but like with past leaks from this user, they don’t explain how these images were obtained. In this image, Tohama appears to be an adult, around the same age as Tartaglia and Kaeya, with what looks like a Pyro Vision on his right hip. The image doesn’t show what weapon he wields.

However, this report of a character named “Tohama” conflicts with a previous leak that was datamined from closed beta testing in Genshin Impact. The first time a Genshin Impact character named “Tohama” leaked was in an alleged datamine about a month ago, via a Redditor by the name of u/drakolla911. In that image, Tohama is the character wearing red garb with white hair, a completely different appearance than in the image leaked by NEP NEP. In u/drakolla911’s datamine, they also claim Tohama to have a Pyro Vision as well and utilize a polearm.

Though NEP NEP’s leak seems to be more legitimate, with an art style that matches the one in Genshin Impact, there’s nothing to hang either of their hats on, with no past confirmed claims to give either of them credibility. These alleged leaks could be nothing more than fan art for clout, though, in the past, NEP NEP passed along a video of an upcoming Geo character Albedo and his skills.

The developer is taking these leaks very seriously. In a statement last month, MiHoYo announced that it would be taking legal action against leakers involved with a Version 1.2 leak, and warned anyone else who intended to do the same.

Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for PS5 and Switch.
