A good number of Pokemon from the Kalos region have been added to Pokemon GO in order to bring in Pokemon‘s sixth-generation after the introduction of mega evolution. While many well-known Pokemon from the region, such as the Kalos starters, have been added for players globally, Klefki is a different case.
Klefki is a dual Steel and Fairy-type Pokemon that can now be found in the wild in Pokemon GO. It doesn’t have any pre-evolved forms or any other Pokemon it can evolve into, making any Klefki candy only useful for changing moves and powering the Pokemon up.
While Klefki can be found in the wild, making it spawn will be difficult for the majority of players around the world. This is due to Klefki being one of the few region-locked Pokemon available in Pokemon GO, which means that Klefki will only spawn in a specific real-world location.,
Due to it being originally from the Kalos region, and the Kalos region being based on the real-world country of France, Klefki can only be found in France. This means that only French Pokemon GO players and Pokemon GO players currently in the country can find this Pokemon active in the wild.
Considering the current state of the world, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic affecting countries worldwide, it is very unlikely for many Pokemon GO players to be traveling to France in order to catch this Pokemon. Like other region exclusive Pokemon, however, there may be an event or research reward at some point in the future that will make catching Klefki much easier.
This isn’t the first time Pokemon in Pokemon GO were region-exclusive to a single country, with Bouffalant being exclusive to New York City and states surrounding it in the United States of America. Klefki’s status however will definitely provide some difficulties for players trying to complete their Pokedex in-game.
If players are lucky enough to catch Klefki, it can have a max CP of 1949 and is weak to only Fire and Ground-type moves. It also resists Dragon, Bug, Dark, Fairy, Flying, Grass, Ice, Normal, Poison, Psychic, and Rock-type moves. With Klefki’s moveset, its best moves would be having Tackle for its fast move and Play Rough for its charge move.
As more Pokemon from the Kalos region are implemented into Pokemon GO, it is entirely possible for more Pokemon to be region exclusive to France or other areas of the real world. Players however will need to wait and see on the status of these Pokemon.
