With the latest season of Fortnite came several new skins for players to earn through the Battle Pass and wear as they drop onto the island to duke it out with similarly clad opponents in their new gear. One of these new arrivals has taken the title by storm, as Kratos enters Fortnite in Chapter 2, Season 5 as a skin, bringing the PlayStation exclusive character to an array of systems for the first time ever.
Now that Kratos is a skin that can be equipped in Fortnite, players have quickly begun to push the character to the limits of how goofy and comical this new cameo will allow. The most popular thing that fans across Twitter and Reddit have begun doing is taking the new character and testing out a series of emotes, with some of Fortnite‘s signature dances being one of the most popular ways to show off the skin.
The dances in Fortnite have long been a huge draw for fans, especially those looking to unlock new flair through the emotes after having dumped hours into the game already. In this case, seeing the emotes on a new skin is just a part of the experience at this point, seeing how these new characters and outfits flow with the dances. However, the history of Kratos’ character and his hyper-serious, hyper-violent antics through fifteen years of God of War takes the comical, high-energy dances to a whole new level.
This also isn’t the first time that players have made previously serious characters dance, with the act of coercing NPCs to dance even becoming a challenge in Fortnite. Players had previously found ways to make Thanos dance in his short-lived cameo as an Easter Egg that players could find while playing on the island. However, it’s hard to claim that any of the previous characters to take on Fortnite‘s popstar dances so far are quite as entertaining as seeing Kratos become a meme for his enthusiastic emoting.
Many players, while thoroughly enjoying the act of putting Kratos through these humiliating antics, are finding it hard to handle seeing Kratos in such a goofy way. That isn’t to say that the God of War series isn’t without it’s moments of levity, putting Kratos in a fish outfit or allowing him to cameo in cartoonish golfing sports games. So, with Kratos now in Fortnite, it’s really par for the course on handling the character in a more comedic way than fans might expect, even if these emotes are a step further than players have seen so far.
Fortnite is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
