Fortnite Season 5 just kicked off earlier this week, but Epic Games has already issued another update for the popular battle royale. The latest Fortnite update addresses some shotgun balancing issues in the game, as well as disables one of the new Season 5 features, as it’s been causing some problems.
First off, the latest Fortnite update buffs both the Charge and Dragon’s Breath shotguns. For the Dragon’s Breath, Fortnite players will notice that the gun now has better range and increased damage. The Charge Shotgun, meanwhile, has increased ammo capacity, damage, and reload speed. This should go a long way in ensuring that these Fortnite Season 5 shotguns don’t feel underpowered compared to other shotguns and different kinds of guns in the game.
Meanwhile, the new Fortnite Season 5 feature that’s been disabled is sand tunneling. Fortnite‘s sand tunneling was causing an exploit that would turn players invisible and essentially give them “god mode.” Of course, this gave Fortnite players who abused the exploit a significantly unfair advantage, so it makes sense that Epic has disabled the feature while it works on a fix. Epic Games has been known to disable features in Fortnite regularly if problems crop up, and it usually doesn’t take long for them to be added back to the game.
Fans of the popular battle royale can expect Fortnite Season 5 to continue getting updates on a weekly basis, and likely even multiple times per week. Not only will Epic be adding new Fortnite challenges for players to complete, but it will continue trying to better-balance the guns in the game, and it may even add new locations or features, if previous seasons of the battle royale are any indication.
Some of the most notable new content coming to Fortnite for Season 5 will be the new skins. Fortnite Season 5 has already made headlines thanks to some of the skins that are now in the game, which include The Mandalorian from the popular Disney+ TV series of the same name, as well as Kratos from God of War. Leaks have indicated that Halo‘s Master Chief will be joining the fight at some point in the near future as well, resulting in one of the biggest gaming crossover events ever.
With both PlayStation and Xbox throwing in some of their biggest characters, some fans have theorized that Metroid‘s Samus Aran will also be coming to Fortnite, though that has yet to be confirmed. In the meantime, fans can keep playing the BR, completing challenges and trying to finish up the Battle Pass.
Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
