Around the launch of Apex Legends, there were a ton of leaks that went unfulfilled. Everything from a flame thrower and a vehicle were tossed around datamines, leaks, and the like, but arguably, the biggest leaks dealt with characters.
What’s notable is how some of these characters have already made it into the Apex Games. Some of their names have changed, but overall, as seen from one of the initial leaks below, Crypto, Nomad (as Revenant), Rosie (as Loba), Rampart (with a completely different character model), and Wattson have all joined the games. It stands to reason then that these characters, as well as some that leaked later on, may just become playable in Apex Legends some day.
As such, here’s every leaked yet unused Apex Legends character (and what has been said about them) as of Season 7. Players should keep in mind that these characters may have been scrapped at some point, may have been distractions (much like Forge), may have had serious reworks, or may still be very early in development.
Husaria is described as a “Hard Breacher” in data mines. Her datamined abilities include a flashbang tactical, a shotgun kick passive that deals damage when knocking down doors, and a Breaching Charge that can destroy traps, doors, and disorient enemies on the other side. As a result, she sounds much like an assault character designed to counter Caustics or Wattson squads that lock down an area. Alternatively, because these are not necessarily helpful in standard combat, she could just be a support character.
Jericho is described as “The Frontline” and is a tank-like character similar to Gibraltar. His datamined abilities include a Ballistic Shield Protection that prevents damage from behind when the shield is not in use (passive), a body shield that protects the front from incoming fire (tactical), and Javelins which, when throw, destroy enemy shields (like in an AoE).
Prophet seems like a weapon specialist assault class. In a manner similar to Rampart’s LMGs, Prophet’s kit is geared specifically with Sniper Rifles in mind, with a passive ability that improves ADS accuracy and gives Prophet a scope at the start of the game. Their tactical scans the enemies and gathers info on the targets pinged, while their ultimate equips a sniper rifle with three silenced shots. As a result, this could be another recon character as well, but it seems they could go either way.
Skunner is hard to pinpoint exactly, as they’ve been used interchangeably with Prophet/Seer, as well as Firebug. However, in general, this character is nicknamed the “Crafty Trapper.” Their kit-out includes a light step that does not leave evidence for Bloodhound and is not slowed by traps like Caustic’s Gas or Wattson’s fences, a Tactical debris trap that slows and damages enemies in a small AoE, and a Barrier Grenade that creates a big spiked barrier.
By most accounts, Nomad is a mostly complete legend. He seems to be a support character whose passive grants the entire party additional backpack space, a Loot compass that can find nearby loot, and a crafting table that can salvage and enhance items. In earnest, Nomad’s character sounds a lot like Loba and Apex Legends‘ crafting system in one character, which could be interesting if properly balanced. At the same time, due to the aforementioned comparison, it’s possible that Nomad was scrapped for a more general crafting system.
As the names change, it becomes harder to keep track of some characters. Some think that Conduit is the updated, more recent version of Reckoner, but that’s hard to say due to the nature of Apex Legends leaks. Regardless, as it stands, their abilities seem focused on shield generation and buffing, aptly nicknamed the Overshield Conductor. Their abilities include a passive Capacitance skill that changes their health into shields, giving them a shield regeneration over time. Their tactical gives allies an overshield, while their Ultimate Short Circuit is a giant ball of electricity that steals shields from opponents.
Immortal is yet another Shield-focused character, and while their abilities are entirely different, it’s also possible there’s some confusion between Immortal, Reckoner, and Conduit. Either way, Immortal seems like an assault character who ust doesn’t stop: their passive is an automatic self-revive, their tactical is a cloud of nanites that charges ally shields but damages enemies shields, and their ultimate gives nearby teammates a self-revive—after full healing Immortal—as well. Due to the OP nature of Immortal, it would seem this is likely a distraction or scrapped character.
Titanfall’s Blisk has long-been believed to come to the Apex Games. He’s an important character overall, and it would likely make many Apex Legends fans happy. Regarding his kit, his passive reveals enemy locations upon an executing of one of their allies, a Throwing Knife tactical that ‘marks’ a target for credits, and a Payday ultimate that allows his squad to spend credit on supplies. Notably, this sounds a lot like Loba and even Lifeline to an extent, so while believable, Respawn may choose to change the credit-oriented abilities as to not undermine Loba in Apex Legends‘ gameplay.
Valk is called the Soaring Aviator and could be a movement-based assault class. Their passive are Jets that allow them to hover, a tactical cluster missile, and a Skyward ultimate launch. It’s worth noting that Valk’s abilities sort of line up with another character known as Downfall, and it’s possible the two are somehow related.
That said, Downfall has an entirely different kit out. Whether this is a distraction or a character too early in development to really determine, Downfall is reportedly known as the “Populist Pyromaniac.” The name doesn’t really line up with the nickname, but either way, the datamined abilities include a passive ability to extinguish fire, an ability to drop molotovs for the entire squad, and an ultimate fire bomb run.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
