The latest big money event hosted by popular content creator MrBeast has finished, and the winner walked away from an intense game of Among Us with a $100,000 grand prize. In a tournament filled with pro-level players like Sykkuno, as well as the usual suspects of popular gaming YouTubers, the added prize money raised the stakes beyond what even the biggest Among Us fans are used to.
This kind of event isn’t uncommon for Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson, as the YouTuber has built a brand on hosting tournaments and challenges with cash stacks on the line. Even using Among Us as the subject for these massive winnings is nothing new for the MrBeast Gaming channel, where the content creator hosts such events.
The winner of this particular tournament was Karl Jacobs, a variety streamer on Twitch who has appeared in a number of MrBeast’s events before, including Among Us tournaments. In order to take home the grand prize, Jacobs had to play through a ten-person round as the lone imposter, killing off crewmates and avoiding being voted off while the nine remaining players tried to suss him out. This was a difficult task to be sure, but not going against previous statistics for Among Us players, who reportedly have a better win ratio as the imposter in general.
Standard statistics or not, Jacobs was still up against some of the biggest names in the game like Dream, who previously appeared in a “high IQ” match of Among Us for the Game Theorists’ St. Jude charity event. With other YouTubers like PewDiePie, Jacksepticeye, and Corpse Husband also joining the tournament, the cards seemed stacked against any imposter going for the prize. Still, Jacobs threw suspicion all over the crew, making sure to cover his tracks and not get caught red handed like Sykkuno in the previous round.
The two-round tournament has already gone viral, trending #1 on YouTube as a result of the ridiculously high prize offered for a single successful round of the popular online game. Considering the meteoric rise of Among Us, combined with the $100k grand prize, it’s no surprise that fans have been quick to check out the results of the tournament. Top it off with how some players tend to disrupt these games with comical antics that can sometimes throw a round into chaos, and it’s no wonder why people want to see the ten players butt heads over the big reward.
Among Us is available now for Mobile and PC.
