All Cyberpunk 2077 GOG Revenue Goes to CD Projekt Red, Game Playable on GeForce Now

It’s almost weird that the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 is launching this week after so many years of buildup and several months of delays, but it’s finally happening. Not only has Cyberpunk already been reviewed by professional media outlets, it’s now available to purchase across many retailers. But while gamers have all these options, CD Projekt RED is encouraging PC gamers to buy the game from its own digital store, GOG.

With a few days left before one of the most highly-anticipated games of 2020 finally comes out, the developer took the opportunity to thank fans who buy Cyberpunk 2077 on GOG, reminding them that it gets 100% of the proceeds from sales there. Since the wider CD Projekt Group owns the store, it doesn’t have to give up a percentage of the money it makes like it does on other major platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, which tend to take around 30% of the proceeds.

Fans will want to keep this in mind if they want to support CD Projekt RED as much as possible, but this loyalty can benefit them as well. By pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077 by December 10, they will receive a code to get a 30% discount on official company merchandise. Better yet, the GOG version will come with a handful of exclusive content, such as GOG-themed in-game items and a 50-page digital comic called Cyberpunk 2077: Big City Dreams.

In related news, the company revealed in a separate announcement that the game will be available on Nvidia GeForce Now this week, making good on Nvidia’s promise to have Cyberpunk on the service at launch from earlier this year. CD Projekt RED specified that the GOG version will be available on the cloud service, and will even come with ray-tracing support for users with a Founders membership.

Being that Cyberpunk is one of the most ambitious and open-ended RPGs ever made, a lot of PC fans won’t be able to experience it the usual way due to not having a modest gaming rig. But with GeForce Now, the company stated, players around the world will be able to explore the streets of Night City and guide V’s story from a variety of less-powerful devices, including Chromebooks and lower-end Windows and Mac laptops.

CD Projekt RED teased that there will be more to come for the game on GeForce Now, including support for additional language support beyond English. Other than that, though, the company merely said that fans should expect additional announcements to be made in the future.

Cyberpunk 2077 will launch on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming in 2021.
