You need a pretty decent setup to enjoy the new Medal of Honor.
If you want to play EA’s upcoming virtual reality game Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond properly, you’ll need some pretty hefty hardware.
In a post on Reddit, Oculus Studios executive producer Mike “Mdoran” Doran revealed that the recommended system requirements for the shooter include an Intel i7 9700K, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an Nvidia RTX 2080 card.
Doran said that the game is more CPU-bound, meaning you don’t necessarily need an RTX 2080 to play it, but you should remain closer to the indicated CPU if you can. GPUs less power than a 2080 will still be able to play the game, albeit at the risk of “some more hitching / framerate dips.”
According to Polygon, Above and Beyond also clocks in at around 170GB in size, but you need more than 340GB free in order to download, unpack and install the game.
Regardless, that’s a pretty hefty hardware demand, with these requirements clocking in significantly higher than the ambitious Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt’s recommends an i7 4790 or AMD Ryzen 3 3200G, 12GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 6GB, 1660 Super or Raden RX 590 to enjoy its RPG.
Perhaps that’s not a fair comparison because Above and Beyond is a virtual reality title, while Cyberpunk 2077 is not. It is more demanding than similar triple-A VR projects like Valve’s Half-Life: Alyx, though.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond is being developed by Titanfall and Apex Legends studio Respawn exclusively for Oculus. It’s currently slated for a December 11 release.
