Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that many in the gaming community have been looking forward to for a very long time. Initially announced in 2012 and then finally revealed during E3 2018, for some fans, it’s almost surreal knowing that the game is so close to finally releasing. Now, it seems that Cyberpunk 2077 could potentially have yet another surprise in store for players.
Over the last couple of years, a number of surprise cameos and character portrayals for Cyberpunk 2077 have been unveiled, with perhaps the biggest one being Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. However, another celebrity cameo could be possible in terms of Cyberpunk 2077 and it presumably comes in the form of one of the biggest tech moguls on the planet.
A new in-game screenshot apparently shows an Elon Musk cameo in Cyberpunk 2077. This presumed cameo appears at the beginning of one of the player’s lifepaths, one of three character backstories the player can choose from. After vomiting in a sink, the player looks up at a mirror and a person who appears to be Elon Musk walks into the bathroom. Though, from the player’s perspective, it’s pretty hard to tell if it’s actually him or not
Honestly, an Elon Musk cameo is not too far out of the realm of possibility. Back in 2019, Elon Musk had a brief interaction on Twitter with Cyberpunk 2077’s official Twitter page after Elon Musk unveiled the Tesla Cybertruck. The Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter page reached out to Musk after the unveiling and Musk responded with “see ya in 2077.”
It’s important to note that nothing has been confirmed as of yet, so it’s best to take this news with a grain of salt. Months ago, Avengers: Endgame actor Hiroyuki Sanada was apparently supposed to play a character in the game and that has yet to be confirmed. Though, if this rumor were to be true and Elon Musk actually is a minor character in Cyberpunk 2077, it would certainly make for a fun and interesting addition to the game’s lore.
In any case, it will be interesting to see the kinds of celebrity cameos that get featured in the game and whether Elon Musk is one of them. Admittedly, Musk is definitely a more thematically appropriate choice in terms of Cyberpunk 2077. On top of being one of the biggest tech moguls in the world, Elon Musk also has a deep tie to video games, so it would be cool to see someone as recognizable and influential as him featured in a game that has been eight years in the making.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on December 10th, 2020 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S adaptations currently in development.
