Version 1.1 of Genshin Impact introduced players to a fair spread of new material. Playable characters, powerful weapons, and exciting foes all made their ways into the game with its new update, and while many fans are focusing on the “big” features, like the hotly anticipated Geo user, Zhongli, some are more occupied with the addition of matchless equipment, like The Unforged.
The Unforged is one of the new weapons that arrived in Genshin Impact Version 1.1. It is the game’s newest five-star claymore, and as such, is being featured as part of the Epitome Invocation banner, also known as the game’s Weapon Banner.
Until December 22, 2020, lucky players who Wish upon the Epitome Invocation banner will have the opportunity to earn one of the game’s newest five-star weapons: The Unforged, and the Vortex Vanquisher. While the Vortex Vanquisher, a pole arm, is certainly noteworthy, The Unforged has garnered much more attention for its direct relevance to popular claymore-wielding characters, like Beidou or the fiery new rockstar, Xinyan.
The Unforged offers a Base ATK stat of 46, and a Secondary Stat Type of ATK %, one of the game’s more valuable offensive stats. In addition to this, The Unforged features an ability that synergizes wonderfully with Elemental Shields, the likes of which are often generated by claymore users like Beidou. Specifically, The Unforged features the following attributes:
- Base Stat – ATK (Lv. 1/Lv. 90): 46/608
- Secondary Stat – ATK % (Lv. 1/Lv. 90): 10.8%/49.6%
- Passive: Golden Majesty (Rank 1/Rank 5): Increases Shield Strength by 20%/40%, scoring hits on opponents increases ATK by 4%/8% for 8s, up to a maximum of 5 stacks. Can occur once every 0.3s. While protected by a shield this ATK increase effect is boosted by 100%
The Unforged possesses the upper-level stats expected of any five-star weapon, along with an incredible ability that takes advantage of shields. Of course, its passive ability seems to apply to not only self-generated shields, but also any shield that might surround the user. So in other words, characters who cannot generate their own shields can still benefit from the effects of The Unforged’s Golden Majesty upon switching into battle.
That being said, The Unforged clearly shines most when paired with natural complements like the newest claymore-wielder, Xinyan. Seeing as her ability generates shields that protect the user while damaging enemies, an ability that amplifies shield strength, while in turn further boosting ATK strength, is quite literally the ideal. This ability would certainly assist dynamos like Razor, who deal massive amounts of damage as it is, but realistically speaking, it would be better off in the hands of Noelle, Beidou, or Xinyan, all of whom directly apply Shield mechanics to their playstyle.
Players should also note that although The Unforged and the Vortex Vanquisher are currently only available from the Epitome Invocation banner, they are expected to join the Standard Banner once Genshin Impact‘s next update introduces newer five-star weapons. On a similar note, Travelers should recall that weapons can only be Refined by sacrificing an identical copy of the weapon. So despite The Unforged’s daunting Lv. 90 stat offerings, most players, even the lucky ones, will have to work with a Rank 1 or 2 claymore, at best.
Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for Switch and PS5.
