The Game Awards 2020 pre-show is already delivering the kinds of announcements that video game fans are hungry for. Focus Home Entertainment promised two different game announcements during The Game Awards and the first is here. Introducing Shady Part of Me, developed by indie studio Douze-Dixiemes. But the most exciting part of the announcement is that it’s available now. Shady Part of Me can be purchased and played now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
Shady Part of Me in a clever narratively driven experience that mixes both 3D and 2D gameplay. In 3D, players take on the role of a little girl struggling through a surreal world symbolic of her complicated emotions. To help overcome her challenges, players can switch to the little girl’s 2DS shadow. It’ll require players to overcome puzzles in both 3D and 2D to progress through the game and discover the truth behind the little girl’s challenges.
Unfortunately, the surprise of Shady Part of Me‘s announcement was somewhat dulled. With the game launching, Focus Home Interactive had to ensure everything was in place ahead of time. As such, not only did the game have a trademark publically available, but it had listings on both Steam and the Microsoft store that all-but-confirmed Shady Part of Me‘s approaching arrival. The game’s announcement was unfortunately leaked. Regardless, the game’s quality will hopefully speak for itself.
Shady Part of Me will be just the first of two different announcements made during The Game Awards 2020. A second is rumored to be Flying Wild Hog’s in-development FPS, which may be named Evil West. The Shadow Warrior developer confirmed a new game made in partnership with Focus Home some time ago. Expect to hear more about it during The Game Awards tonight.
Shady Part of Me is now available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
