Fans of the 2019 RPG Disco Elysium have been wondering when Disco Elysium will be coming to consoles. Well now they have their answer, because developer ZA/UM narrowed down the release window at The Game Awards tonight, confirming that the game is coming early next year, and it will be bringing new content with it.
Following last night’s tease of a new project in the works at ZA/UM, the developer announced that it’s releasing an upgraded version of the game known as Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. Said version will be coming to PC and PlayStation consoles in March 2021, followed by the Switch and Xbox Series X/S next summer.
Like the new subtitle suggests, The Final Cut will take the critically-acclaimed base game and infuse it with new features and quality-of-life improvements. Along with new quests for players to take on, the game will also feature full voice acting for all of its characters, an impressive feat considering all of the dialogue that Disco Elysium already boasts. ZA/UM also teased new touches like full controller support, expanded language options, and 4K/60fps performance on the PS5 (the XSX wasn’t mentioned, but it’s likely that the console may support similar performance).
Better yet, all of this new content will be released as a free update for existing owners of the current version. Additionally, it was announced during The Game Awards that iam8bit will be releasing an exclusive $250 Collector’s Edition of The Final Cut, which will come with a physical copy of the game along with a 190+ page art book, hand-painted vinyl sculpture, and more.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut will come out in March 2021 for PC, PS4, and PS5, and in summer 2021 for Switch and Xbox Series X/S.
