Hood: Outlaws and Legends Gets Fast-Paced Gameplay Trailer

Hood: Outlaws and Legends is a new PvPvE game from studios Focus Home Interactive and Sumo Digital. Hood: Outlaws and Legends was revealed back in August during a PlayStation State of Play live stream centered around upcoming titles for the PS5.

The initial reveal showed CGI cutscenes that gave an idea of what players can expect from the game, with a very brief snippet of gameplay viewable at the end of the reveal trailer. Now, The Game Awards 2020 live stream offered fans a full look at Hood: Outlaws and Legends’ gameplay with a brand new trailer.

Hood: Outlaws and Legends is a multiplayer-oriented title where a team of players embarks on missions set in medieval times. It’s a heist game, where players are tasked with retrieving a treasure in each mission and making it out alive with the treasure at the end of each mission. Players take control of four distinct characters in Outlaws and Legends, each with their own unique skills and playstyles. While this new gameplay trailer from The Game Awards 2020 live stream was fairly fast-paced, it did give players a better idea of what they can expect from the game’s HUD and general gameplay structure.

The trailer focused on certain elements and stages of each mission, such as locating the key to the vault where the treasure is locked away. It seems players can approach these scenarios with some flexibility, opting for stealth, assassination, or all-out combat. The trailer also gave a brief look at how the opposing team can stop the team of thieves from stealing the treasure, highlighting the different PvPvE aspects of the game. Finally, this Hood: Outlaws and Legends’ trailer ended with the announcement of the game’s release date: May 10, 2021. Additionally, those who pre-order the game will be able to play three days early on May 7.

While fans have seen footage of Hood: Outlaws and Legends before, this latest trailer really hits home how dark and gritty the game’s overall aesthetic is. The oppressive, grimy atmosphere combined with the medieval setting of Outlaws and Legends brings The Witcher comparisons to mind, which isn’t a bad thing at all. What Focus Home Interactive and Sumo Digital have shown off so far looks very interesting, though it still remains to be seen just how engaging the gameplay loop will end up being.

For now, it’s safe to say that Hood: Outlaws and Legends has the potential to be one of the premier multiplayer-focused titles of this new generation of consoles. Hopefully, the game gets off to a very strong start next May, and avoids the slow build-up of other multiplayer-focused titles like last generation’s For Honor. However, if this recent gameplay trailer is any indication, it seems like Hood: Outlaws and Legends will have the perfect amount of variety and depth to keep players on board in the months after launch.

Hoods: Outlaws and Legends releases on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on May 10, 2021.
