Piscatella also highlighted that the Nintendo Switch is selling incredibly well despite the launch of new PlayStation and Xbox devices, as it still led the market in overall units sold. Still, the PlayStation 5’s dominant first month is a good sign for adopters of the new console, as Sony will surely do all it can to give the successful system some strong support.

With the PS5 boasting major launch titles like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which was the “3rd best-selling game of November” according to Piscatella, the PS5’s path to success becomes clear. Aside from numerous quality-of-life upgrades and an impressive amount of speed, the exclusive games available on the PlayStation 5 have pushed the platform to new heights. With the system being the “best-selling hardware platform in consumer spending,” the PS5’s games seem to be benefitting heavily from the system launch.
With the PlayStation 5 being updated consistently, the console should only become more enticing to potential buyers as time goes on, making for a likely continuation of this success for Sony and the PlayStation brand. If Sony can keep units of the popular new console in stock and meet the demand for the PS5, even more records may be broken soon.
