Grand Theft Auto Fans Want Rockstar to Take Its Time With GTA 6 After Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Issues

Cyberpunk 2077 launched earlier this week to immensely positive reviews, however, many critics and fans have pointed out the game’s underwhelming performance on all systems, especially on the base PS4 and Xbox One. Seeing the game’s broken launch, many fans have started to show concern about another highly anticipated title that may end up with a similar fate if not done properly.

Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed back in 2012 as a next-gen title when the PS4 and Xbox One had not seen the day of light. Fast forward to 2020, while the game boasts jaw-dropping visuals on PC, the console version suffers from innumerable bugs and glitches that makes it difficult to play on the base consoles. While the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game maintain 60FPS, they also suffer from a plethora of game-breaking issues, in spite of the day zero patch that came alongside it.

While many people have refunded the game, stating that they would rather wait for a proper next-gen upgrade, many have taken to social media to discuss where things went wrong and how it should improvise with future AAA titles. Reddit user Exoboot expressed how Rockstar Games should wait out and release Grand Theft Auto 6 only when it’s well polished and ready to be shipped, even if it’s by 2024.

Several other people, who tried the game on consoles, shared similar concerns. Reddit user PrimG84 said that the release of Cyberpunk 2077 is a good indication of why a developer should not reveal a game eight years before its release and that GTA 6 should take all the development time it needs. Another user, yanggang20202024, commented on Rockstar’s silence on Grand Theft Auto 6, saying that the Cyberpunk mess will remind Rockstar why perfecting a product before releasing is important.

Rockstar Games’ last release was Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018, which was also in development for over eight years. Unlike Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2 has impressive graphics on the base PS4, while maintaining a decent FPS. For an open-world so big and intricate, Red Dead Redemption 2 was surprisingly well polished, which proved why big open-world games could benefit with a little extra time in the oven. Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed three times this year and the most recent one was solely due to the game’s lacking performance on the last-gen consoles. As it seems, three weeks of time wasn’t easy to fix such a game of such complex scope.

In the meantime, CD Projekt has addressed some of the game’s issues and is already working on updates to optimize the game. Seeing the company’s track record, it’s only a matter of time when Cyberpunk 2077 will be a much more polished experience, even on the outdated consoles. However, as of now, Cyberpunk 2077 is an adventure that’s better left alone on PS4 and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a free-upgrade coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
