Last month, Sony and Microsoft released the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, respectively. As expected, the launch of both next-generation consoles has caused quite a bit of stir in the gaming community, given that Microsoft and Sony were unable to keep up with high demand. Unfortunately, most retailers still do not have stocks of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but it appears that those who could not get one at launch now have another chance to snag a next-gen console soon.
According to Best Buy, it will have more units of the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S this week. Both next-gen consoles will be available on Best Buy’s online store on Tuesday, December 15, after 8 AM Central Time. Unfortunately, the retailer did not reveal how many next-gen consoles will be available on the aforementioned date, but players should expect that stocks will be limited. Additionally, Best Buy made it clear that players will only be able to purchase the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S online, with curbside pickup available as an option.
Unsurprisingly, the PS5 quickly sold out at launch, which led to the disappointment of those unable to secure a unit. In a statement released by Sony last November, CEO Jim Ryan acknowledged the stock shortage of the PS5, saying that “absolutely everything is sold.” Luckily for PlayStation fans, Ryan also promised that the company would be releasing more PS5s by the end of the year, and it appears that tomorrow will be the fulfillment of this promise.
Similarly, the launch of the Xbox Series X and S was also a resounding success for Microsoft. Apart from the next-gen Xbox consoles being sold out everywhere, Microsoft revealed that after launch day, the Xbox Series X beat the company’s sales record in the UK. In a report released last November, it has been revealed that the Xbox Series X|S had sold over 155,000 units at launch, which is slightly higher than what the Xbox One achieved when it was released in 2013.
At the moment, it is still difficult to say when exactly the supply of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will stabilize. However, with all the games expected to roll out soon, it is safe to say that both Sony and Microsoft’s next-generation consoles would remain a hot commodity for the foreseeable future.
