Here’s how you fix Cyberpunk 2077 problems with AMD chips

Another day, another Cyberpunk 2077 issue.

We’re now five days post-launch and people are still discovering new problems with CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077.

It would seem that PC players using AMD CPUs are having problems with the sci-fi RPG. According to a post on Reddit from user BramblexD, the game doesn’t seem to recognise the logical cores on AMD’s tech, instead only seeing its physical cores.

Translating from nerd to English, this means that folks using AMD tech are seeing considerable performance drops when playing Cyberpunk 2077 because the game is only using a fraction of the horsepower.

The solution to this problem – per a comment on the Reddit thread – is to edit the game’s executable (.EXE) using a Hex Editor. You want to search for “75 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08” and change it to “EB 30 33 C9 B8 01 00 00 00 0F A2 8B C8 C1 F9 08”.

That’s it. Simple!

This is the second time that users have had to come up with a solution to issues with the PC version of Cyberpunk 2077. Recently one user – ThePhoenixRoyal – posted on Reddit describing how to improve PC performance by tweaking parts of the configuration files. This was due to CD Projekt Red seemingly allocating the same amount of memory and VRAM on PC, which is what the game would require on Xbox or PlayStation.

Ahead of its December 10 release, it also emerged that the game could trigger epileptic seizures in some people, something that CD Projekt has tried to fix with a patch. The studio has also admitted that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game aren’t up to scratch and has told customers to refund the game if they are unhappy with it.

On consoles, players have been finding some creative ways to improve the rather poor performance on those platforms, too.
