Cyberpunk 2077: Should You Choose Stone Cold Killer or Puppy-Loving Pacifist for Skippy

Cyberpunk 2077 has its fair share of deadly weapons, but few can hold a candle to Skippy the talking handgun. Once the player acquires Skippy, he’ll give them a choice between two modes of fire. Though the answer may seem like an obvious one, there’s a trick that players will need to make use of in order to get the most out of this weapon.

Cyberpunk 2077 players may be inclined to rely on Cyberware for weaponry, but occasionally a good gun is all V will need to sort out many of their problems. Thankfully, getting Skippy is actually easy, but players will need to make sure to read up before they go too far into their first conversation with him.

To find Skippy, players need to fast travel to the College St fast travel point and head to the nearby side job. In an alley nearby, players will find a dead man with a gun lying next to him, and picking this up will start the conversation with Skippy.

Skippy’s two modes are fairly straightforward, and he even lays out for the player exactly what they both do. While in Stone Cold Killer mode, any shot fired at an enemy will automatically hit them in the head, dealing extra damage in the process. By contrast, Puppy-loving Pacifist mode will make all shots hit enemies in the legs, a much less deadly and arguably not very pacifistic option. Though players may be inclined to choose Stone Cold Killer for maximum efficacy, it’s actually in their best interest to choose Puppy-loving Pacifist.

After the players racks up 50 kills with Skippy, he’ll pipe up again and express his concerns. At the end of this conversation, Skippy will automatically switch modes and lock into the new mode permanently. This means players that started with Stone Cold Killer will now be stuck with Puppy-loving Pacifist and vice versa. With that in mind, it’s better to choose Puppy-loving Pacifist, kill 50 people by shooting them too many times in the leg, and then get to keep the Stone Cold Killer mode forever. Just be sure not to select the “Killing is Wrong” option when talking with Skippy after the 50 kills.

Having a weapon that always lands headshots is obviously extremely beneficial, so it’s recommended that players don’t finish Skippy’s questline as that will see V return him to his original owner. That said, for those players that got stuck with a Puppy-loving Pacifist Skippy, it could be worth doing as the owner will pay V 7,000 Eurodollars.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and later on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
