Call of Duty: Warzone Fans Upset As XP Tokens Become Unusable In Season 1 Update

Call of Duty: Warzone players logged in to the game only to realize that something was missing from their accounts. After multiple promotions, battle passes, and other efforts rewarded the community with XP tokens, the new update seems to have taken them away. Call of Duty: Warzone players are upset, as many of them have been stockpiling the tokens since the game’s launch.

With the Call of Duty: Warzone integration, many players did not consider that XP tokens may be removed. After earning many of these tokens through the purchased battle pass, players are upset as they consider the tokens something they rightfully purchased from Activision. By taking away the tokens, they have lost much more than a free giveaway item.

The Reddit post was made by hehelroflmaoed, who pointed out that all of their XP tokens have gone missing. The player has been collecting these tokens and paying for them through Call of Duty: Warzone battle pass subscriptions, and now the tokens have all gone to waste. Many members of the community are more upset at the lack of warning than they are at the missing tokens. Players claim that if they had known before the update that this would happen, they would have been using them all up as to not lose their value. To simply have them disappear is, in the minds of many players, blatant theft of something they had rightfully purchased.

To make this complaint even more interesting, players that do not particularly care about the lost tokens are also voicing complaints. Although many of the Call of Duty: Warzone fans never used the items, to simply have them taken away is considered unjust by the community.

Activision gave away thousands of these tokens throughout the promotional lifespan of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone. They were also used as loyalty rewards for downloading the app, completing bonus objectives, and other minor tasks.

From a player standpoint, the main problem with losing the tokens is the monetary value that they hold as battle pass items. While it is most likely that Treyarch and Activision locked them in an effort to encourage players to earn tokens in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, many players are unwilling to accept that reasoning. The items were earned fair and square, and to simply remove them without any warning to the players is considered an action directly against a great deal of the Modern Warfare community.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
