Cyberpunk 2077 contains a great deal of content to go through. Players can find everything, even legendary hacking gear, at any point in the game if they know where to look.
However, while the side-jobs and gigs are plentiful, the main story of Cyberpunk 2077 is a relatively standard length. It’s one part of a much larger whole, although it is the most significant questline for V. There are a few different endings to Cyberpunk 2077‘s main story, but one in particular is trickier to get than the others. Here’s how to get Cyberpunk 2077‘s secret ending, and a tip or two for playing through it. Caution: major spoilers ahead.
The Secret Ending is ending number five for Cyberpunk 2077, and requires making the right choices during a playthrough. Specifically, players need to be nice to Johnny Silverhand. Players might be tempted to snap at him and go against his wishes more than once. After all, talking to Johnny in the Tapeworm quest and at other random intervals reveals his inner anger, and he’s not always easy to get along with. On top of that, he’s hijacking V’s head. But help him out, and he’ll guide the player to what may be the best ending in the game.
The path to Cyberpunk 2077‘s Secret Ending starts the same as getting the ending where Johnny (piloting V’s body) and Rogue decide to storm into the Arasaka building. Opting to go in this way is already dangerous, since it’s just a three person mission counting Alt. However, at a certain point, the player is given a crucial choice: let Johnny take over, or toss the medicine that will save V’s life off the roof. Don’t pick, just wait. Keep looking back and forth between Johnny and the gun. It will take some time, but eventually Johnny will suggest another option: he goes in solo, without Rogue. Take him up on the offer, and the Secret Ending opens up.
The Secret Ending has one very important distinction over the other endings: no casualties. No matter who the players side with or what other path they take, someone important to V winds up dead. Sometimes V winds up dying, sometimes it’s one of V’s allies, but it’s always someone. This way, only V and Johnny are at real risk. It’s the perfect time to put on Johnny Silverhand’s gear and become a living legend without worrying about losing someone.
The lack of allies makes this final mission very difficult. Arasaka is heavily guarded by the strongest enemies in the game, and if Johnny/V goes down, that’s it. The game immediately goes to the end credits and players must try again from the start. Be sure to stock up on good stuff, perhaps utilizing one of Cyberpunk 2077‘s infinite money tricks, before trying this ending.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2021.
