The festive season has definitely kicked off, and with Christmas Day just around the corner, well-known developer Mojang, the team behind sandbox-world title Minecraft, is presenting its fanbase with more exciting incentives to spend their holidays and time off in-game. With a new seasonal event in Minecraft Dungeons, the looter dungeon-crawling spin-off title that was launched in May, players can scour the frosted forests and snowy caves to complete exciting new trials and gather unique collectible gear and items.
Aptly named Chills And Thrills, the brand new Minecraft Dungeons seasonal event is live now in-game, with players being able to access it through the Seasonal Events menu. The adventures begin today (December 18) and will last until December 30. Players who are familiar with and have successfully gone through the previous Spooky Falls Halloween event and trials will recall that these events are time-exclusive, so it is best to ready up with Minecraft Dungeon’s best gear that’s been collected up until now and complete the challenges before the event’s duration is over.
Minecraft Dungeons‘ Chills And Thrills offers six frosty and wintery-themed trials that come with two new trial modifiers. In the announcement blog post, the developers mentioned switching around and possibly randomizing the number of chests available in dungeons, tinkering with the cooldowns on artifacts, and a new addition to Minecraft Dungeons mobs such as incredibly sinister invisible enemies. These unique challenges will definitely keep players on tip-toe as they slowly plow through the icy and very dangerous path to victory.
The unique rewards that await persistent and dedicated warriors who have weathered through the Chills and Thrills’ snowy trials are also all brand new. When the trials are complete, players will receive the Arctic Fox Armor, the Frost Slayer, and the Shivering Bow. Each equipment piece matches the winter theme of the whole event, no matter if the player prefers melee-based combat with the Frost Slayer, attacking foes from a distance with the Shivering Bow, or traipsing around in the Artic Fox Armor, one of Minecraft Dungeons‘ most unique armor pieces.
Minecraft Dungeons is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
