The holidays are here and now more than ever, consumers from around the world are looking to pick up a PS5 for themselves or a loved one. Various online and physical retail outlets have fluctuating degrees of availability in terms of the PS5. However, the customers of one outlet in particular seem to be facing a great deal of problems with regards to ordering a PS5.
Over the years, GameStop has seen its fair share of problems. With stores closing all around the world, it seems like the company could be on its last legs. Although, with the launch of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S, it presented a unique opportunity for GameStop to make a comeback. That being said, based on customer feedback over on Twitter, the retailer seems to be facing a lot of issues in terms of keeping up with the demand.
Many Twitter users have been left irritated by a variety of different issues as a result of purchasing from GameStop. These issues came in the form of order cancellations, orders not shipping several days after the initial purchase, and customer service providing next to no support in terms of specific orders. There was one user who worryingly showed that their order would not arrive until the tenth of April next year.
Obviously, these are some very big problems that consumers are facing. After all, the PS5 alone is a five-hundred dollar investment, not counting the PS5 games, additional controllers, and whatever other peripherals consumers wish to purchase. The lack of feedback from GameStop has a lot of customers rightfully agitated.
Though, in fairness, GameStop isn’t the only retail outlet that has faced issues in this regard. Back when the console first launch, retail outlets like Walmart and Best Buy struggled to keep the console in stock. In fact, back in November when the console first launched, Walmart’s website crashed due to PS5 orders and how large the volume of orders was at the time of launch.
In any case, hopefully GameStop will eventually be able to address the demand for the console. With any luck, the console orders will arrive earlier than April of next year, but this situation is starting to look as bad as the PS5 pre-order debacle back in October, which led to a large amount of eBay scalpers making a huge amount of profit. Only time will tell if GameStop can manage to stay on top of all of the PS5 orders it has received.
