Call of Duty: Warzone Teases Soap’s Debut | Game Rant

After 6 seasons, Call of Duty: Warzone sees Modern Warfare’s extended storyline has reached its conclusion. While Price and the rest of the cast chasing down Victor Zakhaev to stop a nuke from being launched is exciting, Call of Duty: Warzone players are far more excited about the name drop of Soap MacTavish in the cutscene.

Soap guides Captain Price through disarming the nuke in the final cutscene, which was uncovered by Geeky Pastimes — the same YouTuber who solved the Rebirth Island easter egg. Captain Price succeeds in disarming the nuke and stopping Zakhaev from destroying Verdansk, reuniting with the cast introduced throughout the first six Call of Duty: Warzone seasons. While standing alongside Farah, Ghost, Alex, and Gaz, Price calls Soap by his name — confirming the identity of the Scottish man on the other end of the phone.

Voiced by original actor Kevin McKidd, the Call of Duty community is thrilled over the tease and Soap’s incoming return to the Call of Duty series. While fans may soon get to relive Soap’s tragic death in the original timeline via a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign remaster, his return in the current timeline is certainly welcome. Originally teased alongside the rest of Task Force 141 at the end of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign, fans have been waiting on Soap’s return for months.

With other Task Force 141 members like Ghost and Gaz already playable in Call of Duty: Warzone, players have been hopeful about Soap’s inclusion, and it could be happening soon based on this teaser. With Soap having leaked for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare alongside new guns, it seems possible that the character could arrive in a potential Season 7. However, players should not assume that a surprise seventh season is now guaranteed, as Soap’s introduction could easily be held back until 2021’s Call of Duty release.

One thing that goes against the idea that Soap will come to the game soon is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s integration with Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision seems to be entirely focused on promoting the new Black Ops game, as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has become a collection of advertisements for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare fans are upset about this advertising, its existence makes it seem unlikely that another season of content (and Soap) will be added to the 2019 game.

With Soap likely coming to Call of Duty: Warzone via a Call of Duty: Modern Warfare sequel next year, fans will have to wait a long time before they can play as the heroic character again. Until then, they can rewatch the Verdansk nuke cutscene, reliving the exciting teaser.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
