Last November, developer Motion Twin revealed that Dead Cells would be getting a Christmas update in mid-December. As promised, the latest content update for Dead Cells is now available, bringing the much-anticipated rework to Malaise, alongside new Mutations, new enemies and weapons, and of course, holiday-themed outfits.
For players who are in the holiday spirit, new content in Dead Cells includes festive outfits that allow players to dress The Beheaded into Santa Claus or Frosty the Snowman. Additionally, the update also brings a new diet that transforms healing items for various cheeses. Apart from the holiday-themed content, players will also get a new katana and a new enemy called the Demolisher, which is located in the Distillery and carries an explosive crossbow.
Additionally, Motion Twin previously teased a new paid-DLC update called Fatal Falls, releasing in January 2021. This content expansion will add two new biomes called The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores. Both of these new locations will provide players with more options with each run, alongside more difficulty options and exploration opportunities.
The upcoming Fatal Falls DLC will be priced at $4.99, similar to the Bad Seed DLC, which was released in January and served as Dead Cells’ first paid content update. Although Dead Cells has been out for over two years now, it appears that the game remains popular with players. Alongside the announcement of Fatal Falls, Motion Twin revealed that Dead Cells had sold over 3.5 million copies since its release, which is definitely an impressive milestone for an indie game.
Dead Cells is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
