Cyberpunk 2077: Are There Legendary Optics for Ocular System?

Players will find themselves visiting Ripperdocs frequently in Cyberpunk 2077. When trying to buy a legendary cyberdeck or Cyberware upgrade, these are the people that V turns to.

There are many different Ripperdocs scattered throughout Cyberpunk 2077‘s Night City, each one offering different resources. One of them makes an appearance in the main story: the Ripperdoc with a heart of gold, Viktor Vector. With a decidedly cyberpunk name and some deft fingers, Viktor gives V new eyes that let him scan enemies, and can later upgrade those eyes. Players have seen his Ocular enhancements go up to Iconic level, but some may wonder if there are Legendary Ocular Cyberware upgrades as well.

First, it should be noted that the Ocular Cyberware slot only has one line of upgrades: Kiroshi Optics. These are the cybernetic eyes that allow V to scan enemies, gaining data about them, and sometimes hack them. Viktor, being one of the best characters in Cyberpunk 2077, gives these to V for free with the stipulation that he can pay him back later. This later payment takes the form of a side quest, and completing it lets V purchase upgraded Optics. However, these do not go up to Legendary rarity.

As of this writing, there are no Legendary Ocular Cyberware upgrades in Cyberpunk 2077. Viktor doesn’t sell them, and none have been discovered in any other part of the game. Cyberpunk 2077 has only been out around a week, so they may exist somewhere players haven’t discovered yet. However, given there are no Ocular upgrades found outside Viktor’s line, this seems unlikely. All the Optics are there to let V see better, regardless of whether the player is going through Cyberpunk 2077 with or without ray tracing enhancements. Without the Optics, V couldn’t scan, and that would be a problem.

This doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea to invest in the upgraded Optics offered by Viktor after his side quest. Paying for them shouldn’t be a huge problem, especially if players utilize Cyberpunk 2077‘s infinite money tricks.

The reason to purchase upgraded Optics is purely to get access to more mod slots. Additional slots are the only difference between the upgrades, with the Iconic level letting players install three mods. Mods for Cyberware can be incredibly useful, like the Arasaka Software mod for the Sandevistan Operating System line. With the right mods, the Iconic Kiroshi Optics could look very appealing.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions coming in 2021.
