Hand cannons have always been the best suited to those that like to get into the thick of the action, trading high precision aim for some serious power. However, with such a large selection of weapons and classes, a lot of weapons are going to give the player a disappointing experience. Exotics narrow that field down to a much more exclusive and powerful group, giving players something to strive for.
Hawkmoon is one of the most devastating hand cannons to hit PvP, allowing players to relax a little and really put together their gameplay. Triple stacking bonus damage and effectively supercharging one round in the 11 round clip makes firing the weapon a great game of chance. Good damage is the base level; the bonus is just the destructive cherry on top of the cake. Destiny 2 doesn’t give up its premium weapons easily, players will have to commit to the lengthy task of getting their hands on the powerhouse.
The first step in the long road to Hawkmoon is made by going to the Tangled Shore and visiting the Spider’s Lair, Thieves’ Landing is the best spot to search. If players are fast travelling then it’s just to the right of the travel point and below the Empty Tank Lost Sector. Once the character has made their way down and into the building, it’s time to take out the 2 fallen guards that defend the syndicate boss and open up his resources for sale.
He also offers bounties and missions that provide players with useful prizes, making the intimidating character one of the most useful in the Forsaken campaign. As The Crow Flies will be available to pick up in his inventory, beginning the Hawkmoon process and setting players on a multi-layered task to the hand cannon.
While the quest won’t specifically tell players what is is they’re searching for, the Paracausal Feather is the aim of the game. Luckily, it’s placed to the left of the Spider’s Lair, resting on top of a box. Being one of 5 feathers that have to be gathered to move on, it leads you down a rabbit hole of clues to be followed.
It’s time to travel to The Sludge for feather 2, located in the lost section in the area. Here’s where the warehouse that sits at the top of a cliff will be, follow the path all the way to the rundown walkway. After players climb their way onto the platform, the glowing feather should be visible on the floor right in the corner.
Luckily, feather 3 isn’t a hard search, cutting this extended plume hunt’s time down. Travel to the Cosmodrome and The Steppes should be within reach, revealing a stone column that the character can get on top of. The golden feather should be at the player’s feet, easy.
Feather 4 is dropped on top of a pillar in the Divalian Mists in Dreaming City, head directly to the Blind Well. From here there are 2 pillars in sight, climb the one to the left and claim your prize.
The final feather and the key piece needed to finally move on, they couldn’t make it easy. To find it, players have to travel to the moon and go through the Archer’s Line, eventually leading them to the Hall Of Wisdom. Descending the spiral staircase and pushing through the extended corridors, once in the shrine room the feather will be holed up in the side of a wall.
Activating this quest means going back to Spider’s room and talking to the Crow. From here, travel back to earth and travel to The Sludge, talking to crow at the glowing bird. It’s fairly straightforward as players have to follow the creature through the zone to acquire the first piece of Hawkmoon. Return to the Crow to activate the rest of Let Loose Thy Talons.
As simple as it sounds, the fastest way to victory would be to instantly equip a Masterworks weapon and head to the Kingship Dock Lost Sector that’s right inside the Tangled Shore. It’s now time to go on a massacre with this weapon that will generate the most orbs in the shortest amount of time, getting points for both generating an orb by getting a double kill and one when that orb is picked up. After 50 are locked down, return to the Crow and reveal what has been learned.
It’s time to head back to earth, this time in Trostland. Head to the church area and find the abandoned building, a new door will be available with the crow waiting for the player.
Players can follow their map to follow the path and collect the remaining feathers, leading up the final boss that holds the last feather. Once it’s defeated, return to Crow in Tangled Shore.
The choice that players have to make is whether they have both the resources to take on Champions in PvE or want to try Crucible or Gambit to defeat 200 Guardians. Going the Guardian route will take significantly longer but is more accessible to those who feel under equipped, racking up much more time on the clock than settling down for the big fights. The best choices for tracking down Champions is the Legend Lost Sector, running into the over 10 options to test the player’s skills.
Revisit the start of the first mission where the NPC bird will be waiting, the only difference is this time when the character hits the end point a boss fight will ensue. Multiple enemies will have to be defeated, taking down their barrier’s and unlocking Hawkmoon at the very end. This will drop before the final boss appears, giving the player a chance to test out their shiny new weapon.
