World of Warcraft: Shadowlands – Best Fishing Spots | Game Rant

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has been out for just over a month and many players are calling it the best expansion in recent years. With a variety of endgame tasks like raiding, PvP, or just advancing the Covenant storylines, both returning veterans and excited newcomers will always have something to do in-game. If players want to do something else, however, they can also work on professions such as fishing.

Since vanilla World of Warcraft, fishing has been a relaxing activity that requires an open body of water and time. However, the fish and other rare materials that can be caught are necessary components of other endgame professions like cooking. This tradition continues in Shadowlands, with the best food for Mythic+ and Castle Nathria requiring significant amounts of fishable crafting reagents. Thankfully, there are several locations through each of the four main zones where players can fish relatively undisturbed.

Before leaving Oribos, players should look for the trainer in the Hall of Shapes, Retriever Au’prin. The Hall of Shapes is in the northwest corner of Oribos and Au’prin is at coordinates 47.6, 24.2. The nearby fishing vendor Distributor Au’nagl will also sell useful items like a fishing pole, lure, and bait for specific types of fish. Since the bait is cheap and lasts 30 minutes per use, it’s a good idea to stock up now.

Players will primarily catch Silvergill Pike when fishing in Bastion’s open water. Compared to other zones, there are many pools, lakes, and waterways, but some may be phased or occupied by mobs depending on the Kyrian storyline and Covenant progression. However, there is one spot at coordinates 42, 32 in the Shimmering Pools sub-area located near the Sagehaven flight path. Players fishing here can choose between several pools and won’t run into any hostile enemies.

The Maldraxxus-only catch is Pocked Bonefish, which is used in several foods, including the second-best for raids, Surprisingly Palatable Feast. The best location for Pocked Bonefish is right next to the Theater of Pain flight path at the center of Maldraxxus. Head over to coordinates 50, 53 where several NPCs are fishing in a giant pool.

Iridescent Amberjack is the Ardenweald-exclusive fish that can be found in waters that run throughout the zone. Players trying to fish in undisturbed peace will fly to Tirna Vaal, since a fishing pool at coordinates 63, 36 is only steps away from the flight master after arrival. On the other hand, any Night Fae covenant members can also fish inside the Queen’s Conservatory while tending to any spirits within.

In stark contrast to the other new World of Warcraft zones, Revendreth is packed to the brim with hostile mobs in most subareas. Combined with the elevation changes that restrict open water and it’s much harder to catch Spinefin Pirahna than the other zone fish. Fortunately, there’s a fishing pool at coordinates 62, 62 near the Darkhaven flight path with no enemies even remotely close.

Finally, Lost Sole can be fished in any zone and will make semi-regular appearances even at higher fishing skill unless bait is used. Elysian Thade, however, will always be a rare catch so make sure to bring along bait to drastically increase its drop rate.
