The Venice Unleashed mod has gone live, enabling would be creators to reverse-engineer codes within the servers of Battlefield 3. This allows gamers to produce custom made show cases for privately-hosted servers as well as opening the game up for modifications of all kinds. The VU grants full access to mod tools, as well as a complete configuration suite for dedicated servers. This also enables gamers to both play and host servers for mods, offering a way to invite the entire community to experience personalized creation and vision.
Opening itself up to the modding community invigorates both an established fan community and new would be creators alike to develop and share visions for how to play this well regarded online team based shooter. It may also serve another important purpose in finally aiding the fight against cheaters among the servers by creating specific checks and parameters, a problem which has unfortunately plagued the Battlefield 3 online community for years.
Originally launched on October 25 2011, Battlefield 3 is largely regarded as a stand out favorite of the military franchise, sitting at a positive 89 percent on Metacritic. Going forward, it will be interesting to see if renewed interest in the game is sparked and if an increase in the player base for the game occurs. Gamers can look forward to seeing what kind of servers, creations and fun this inventive community will be able to share with the world.
