While Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s community is hoping for a seasonal event, the developers seem to have something else in mind.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has faithfully recreated the fan-loved Zombies game mode. Although many bugs are still to be worked out, the game mode provides classic perks alongside an authentic Zombie experience. Yet, as players looked closer at the Zombie game mode, they realized that something is missing.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch tweeted out a 2021 “Happy New Year” announcement with a Tombstone Soda image. When Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Zombie mode was released, many fans thought all the perks would be included. It became quickly evident that Tombstone was one of many missing options, but it seems that the developers are planning a triumphant return for the fan-favorite beverage. There is no information about when the perk-o-cola will be reappearing in the title, but the developers tend to be quick with updates when it comes to new content and expanding their massive titles.
Tombstone soda has been in many of the Call of Duty: Black Ops titles as a must-have Zombies perk. The item is particularly useful as it stores all of a player’s perks in a tombstone, which the player can drop. If they can pick up their tombstone during the next round, they can receive all of their previous perks and guns except for the tombstone perk itself.
It is a vital part of the Zombies’ experience for many players, as it offers a second chance after being downed by the undead. Fans are already showing their excitement in the comments as many bring up the very catchy Tombstone jingle which accompanied the classic soda machines.
It is unclear if the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies game mode will be making any adjustments to the item. Most of the perks are generally the same, but the upgrade system has added some variety to the classic experience.
