Respawn Entertainment is kicking off 2021 with a new update and more content for Apex Legends Season 7 this week. Respawn recently released the patch notes for the Fight Night Collection Event in Apex Legends, with details about new fixes and changes being added to the game.
According to the patch notes, the January update will have bug fixes for various issues in Apex Legends. There will be the anticipated Fight Night Collection Event and the various rewards, collectible skins, and a new weapon that come with it. Respawn will also be testing a new approach to limited-time modes in the battle royale.
The Apex Legends Season 7 event will be introducing a new LTM called Airdrop Escalation that, according to the patch notes, will be a “takeover” of the main game mode. It will resemble Apex‘s standard Battle Royale but with far more supply drops than before. In Airdrop Escalation, players will find four supply drops scattered across the maps when they leave the jumpship.
The increased supply drops will occur during each round at the same rate as the Lifeline’s Care Packages normally do in Apex Legends. Every supply drop will contain a “fully-kitted weapon of different tiers” that will vary from round to round, but players won’t be able to break down the weapons or swap their attachments onto other weapons. However, players can still expect regular weapons to appear in the rounds as loot.
Respawn’s development team expressed an eagerness for players feedback on the new takeover approach to LTMs in Apex Legends. On top of the Airdrop Escalation takeover, players can expect more content from the Fight Night Collection Event, including 24 new items that can be purchased with Apex Coins or Crafting Metals. They will also be available in Event Apex Packs for the duration of the event, which come with one event item and 2 non-event items.
Players that collect all 24 items will obtain the Gibraltar Heirloom, and the item will be available through heirloom crafting after the event ends. Players can also look forward to the new loot-giving MRVNs in the Olympus map, changes to a couple of characters and weapons, and bug fixes to various Legends in the update. Some include familiar faces such as Revenant and the newest Legend Horizon.
Players can enjoy the Apex Legends Fight Night Collection Event when it launches at 8 PM PT on Tuesday, January 5.
Apex Legends is free-to-play on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Switch version in development.
