Atlus Teases Persona 25th Anniversary Announcement in 2021

The holiday celebrations have yet to come to a halt as Japanese video game developer and publisher Atlus has recently shared its own festive greetings in a recent interview. Joining their fans in ushering in the new year, the company teased that it has something in the works to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Persona series.

With several games launched within the last year, Atlus has had a very productive 2020, no matter the region. Fans were able to see their favorite series hitting different gaming platforms. This was seen in Persona 4 Golden being released on Steam and Catherine: Full Body recently ported to the Nintendo Switch. In the company’s New Year’s greeting card shared with Japanese magazine Famitsu, Atlus only briefly mentions that the company has a commemorative project planned for the 25th year of the Persona series. Providing no other details, fans are left to speculate as to what sort of project or announcement Atlus has in store for the public. With the company known to work on Persona-themed lifestyle collaborations, partnerships, and even concerts to mark any occasion, it is possible that fans can look forward to those types of activities for the series’ anniversary celebrations.

In the same message, Atlus takes the time to thank its fans for their continued support and patronage for all their 2020 game releases in Japan. The company also assures its fans that the development of highly-anticipated RPG Shin Megami Tensei 5 and Project Re Fantasy is still on course, alongside its Persona 25th-anniversary project. However, no solid information about any of their current project developments, such as Project Re Fantasy‘s release date and launch platforms, were revealed in the company’s greeting card.

The Persona series has had a following in Japan since it first launched for the Playstation in 1996 but the series has only seen Western fame in the last few decades. Since then, it has grown into its own, amassing a global following that has encouraged the team to develop more titles in the series, with Persona 5 being the latest one. As Atlus prepares to celebrate the 25th year of such a successful series, fans can only hope that the incoming announcements will bear news about the next elusive Persona title.
