The Devil May Cry franchise has had an incredible resurgence over the last two years. With the massive success of Devil May Cry 5, Capcom is utilizing the current fanfare to have some exquisite merchandise produced. With Devil May Cry 5‘s high review scores and positive fan reception, the publisher is opting to give new character V a fitting tribute.
Fans of Devil May Cry 5‘s combative sorcerer V can now show their adoration for the character with an incredibly detailed statue from Prime 1 Studio. The upcoming V statue is expected to release in 2022 and it will be well worth the wait for the quality buyers will be getting.
The statue of V doesn’t just feature the Devil May Cry franchise’s most recent playable character, but his summons which Devil May Cry 5 fans will be very familiar with. Since V breaks tradition within the franchise by playing a most distant action role, it’s no surprise that his “familiars” are heavily featured. The statue has all three of the V’s battle companions with Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare all present and accounted for as shown in the trailer below.
Griffon, V’s mouthy crow companion, is perched on the summoner’s shoulder and displays impressive detail through its bright blue feathers. Shadow, the panther summon, also shows what the statue has to offer with etched fur across its body. Finally, while Nightmare is only shown through its eye instead of its full formation, it does feature LED illumination to make sure nobody forgets its there. Each of the three also add a level of fan service with each familiar being a reference to bosses from the original Devil May Cry.
Prime 1 Studio is considered the elite of statue manufacturers around the world. Prime 1 is well regarded for producing statues that go above and beyond in creating pieces of art that not only demonstrate taste, but also considerable wealth. Any Prime 1 statue will set buyers back a hefty sum and the upcoming Devil May Cry 5 V statue is no exception to that rule. The current preorder price for the statue sits at 123,900 yen which translates to a whopping $1200. It is by no estimations cheap, but it follows similar pricing to previous Prime 1 statues like the recently revealed Witcher 3 Geralt Statue.
So while the price tag for the V statue may be way too high for most Devil May Cry fans, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t cause for excitement. Just days ago, Devil May Cry 5 director Hideaki Itsuno teased his next game through a New Years message. The director also took the chance to ask fans to give the recent release of Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition a whirl and play as returning character Vergil.
Devil May Cry 5 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series consoles.
