Call of Duty: Warzone Streamers Are Manipulating SBMM To Cheat

When it comes to Call of Duty: Warzone, SBMM is a hot topic among the game’s community. The auto-balance feature helps place skilled players into skilled lobbies to give everyone a balanced chance of winning. Recently, some fans noticed that Call of Duty: Warzone streamers and content creators have been appearing in lobbies of low-skilled players and are apparently manipulating this controversial system.

This discovery was sparked by the Call of Duty: Warzone Companion App that many players were using to cheat. By showing stats of players within certain lobbies, players were able to gauge their chance of winning early, and bailed on particularly high-skilled environments. Mix this with the concept of reverse boosting, and there is an immediate problem among the game’s community.

Call of Duty: Warzone YouTuber Drift0r is accusing content creators of using a method of manipulation to affect SBMM. Considering that most players are aware of SBMM, Drift0r claims that there is an alternative method that can manipulate the SBMM system and trigger easier Warzone lobbies. Using this process, a player could find themselves in a low-skill lobby around two-thirds of the time, but he doesn’t explain how in a direct fashion.

The YouTuber found out using the controversial Call of Duty: Warzone Companion app that many top players are spawning into low skill lobbies. While he is not sure exactly how they are doing it, the consistency is frequent enough that the players are obviously exploiting some factor of the matchmaking process. Drift0r has sent his findings to the officials at Activision, but so far has not received a reply.

His evidence and findings raise several questions for the Call of Duty: Warzone community. Players have started questioning the fairness of competitive Warzone, with many wondering if streamers have been bypassing SBMM in tournament formats. Fans are asking if Kill Race competitions and world records that use an exploit like this should even count.

Using several websites to analyze the lobbies of Call of Duty: Warzone record-holders, fans have found some startling information. Record holders like HusKerrs have been placed in lobbies of players who are statistically worse at the game than them. While some fans claim this could be a coincidence, many are leading towards the thought that streamers are somehow manipulating the system. Although it has not been proven, all eyes are on Drift0r, Activision, and the supposed evidence sent to the development team.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, Ps5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
