Ever since releasing in the summer of 2016, Pokemon GO has managed to rake in tons of money. It’s one of the highest-grossing mobile games of all time and continues to receive updates and events to keep fans playing for years and years. Even in 2020, four years after its release, the game managed to earn a record-breaking amount of money, which is quite impressive.
And just like the mainline Pokemon titles out there, such as Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield, trainers can acquire an Eevee and potentially evolve it into one of eight evolutions: Umbreon, Espeon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Jolteon, Glaceon, and Leafeon. One Pokemon is missing from this list of Eevee evolutions and that Pokemon is Sylveon, the Fairy-type that was introduced in the sixth generation of Pokemon, which came about in the form of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y in 2013 for the Nintendo 3DS.
Sylveon is unfortunately not able to be caught in Pokemon GO just yet. The mobile title from Niantic has just begun to add gen 5 Pokemon to its roster, so Sylveon hasn’t made the cut just yet, along with other popular gen 6 Pokemon like Goodra or Zygarde. Over these last few years, Niantic has slowly started to add more and more Pokemon to Pokemon GO. So eventually, Sylveon will definitely be added to the game, but as of right now, it’s the only Eevee evolution that can’t be obtained.
In the regular Pokemon titles, Eevee evolves into Sylveon by having its friendship level maxed out. Once that condition has been met, Eevee will need to have a Fairy-type move under its belt. Then and only then will it evolve into a Sylveon after leveling up once. As for how the Pokemon will evolve in Pokemon GO has yet to be seen. Pokemon that typically evolve by having their friendship maxed out, like Cleffa for example, can simply evolve in Pokemon GO by being fed Candy, so it might be the same situation with Eevee and Sylveon.
Another likely method for evolving Eevee into Sylveon could involve changing the name of the Eevee and then giving it Candy to evolve. All of the other “Eeveelutions,” like Espeon for example, can be obtained by changing Eevee’s name to Sakura. While this can only be done one time per evolution type, Sylveon might end up getting similar treatment.
Pokemon GO is currently available on Android and iOS devices via the Google Play Store and App Store, respectively.
