Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Gung-Ho Exploit is Still in the Game

For many fans, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War hasn’t always been a smooth ride. After launching back in November, the game has seen its fair share of criticisms, exploits, and bugs, many of which have since been resolved through updates. These range from very serious issues like balancing problems with weapons like the DMR, to more lighthearted issues such as using Semtex to fly. However, there are a few issues and glitches which remain unsolved, including one that has continued to plague the community.

In fact, one issue surrounding the Gung-Ho perk has seemingly been a thorn in the side of players all the way back at the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. While it’s impossible to assume Treyarch can address every single issue as soon as it is discovered, this issue with the perk has been seemingly around for so long and been mentioned by the community multiple times that it has continued to leave fans frustrated that it still exists at all.

Originally discovered back in November, the Gung-Ho glitch essentially allows players to completely eliminate the default sprint-to-fire delay. With the perk equipped and a throwable like semtex or a smoke grenade, players can hold down the throw button as they run and fire their gun at the same time. The main problem with this glitch is that it completely removes the ability to aim, but proves to be effective on smaller maps like Nuketown ’84.

The issue continues to be a point of discussion on community sites like Reddit. One user in particular named ChiefofCheeks vents frustrations with the issue being unaddressed for so long, mentioning that it also gives the user an unfair advantage due to how fast they can move. No doubt the holiday season has likely slowed down the updates, which ChiefofCheeks mentions that the multiplayer hasn’t seen a new patch in about three weeks. Commenters under the post seem to be beginning to feel like the issue isn’t going to be addressed considering how long the exploit has remained untouched.

For now, Activision and Treyarch appear to be focused on adding new content to the game as a new bundles like the Disavowed Assassin pack are coming this week. In addition, the mid-season update is also on the way on January 14. The update is bringing tons of new content such as the Dropkick game mode and the Sanatorium map for Fireteam which also features plenty of new land, sea, and air vehicles. No word yet on any bug fixes, but fans should know more when the patch notes arrive for the big mid-season update later this week.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
