In a post detailing the new update for Call of Duty: Warzone, Raven reveals that the DMR has been nerfed again. With the new, major changes being far more impactful than the previous alterations to the rifle, Call of Duty: Warzone players should finally be seeing an end to the gun’s dominance.
The previous DMR nerf was quickly followed by players sharing their disappointment, as changes were only made to the weapon’s headshot damage as opposed to its larger issues. With an absurd damage output, insane accuracy, and a fast fire rate, the weapon quickly became the only viable gun in the popular battle royale game. Fortunately, players should no longer be getting melted in seconds, as the DMR’s viability has been heavily reduced.
In a set of patch notes likely to please DMR critic NICKMERCS, the gun has seen changes to nearly all of its stats. It seems that the reason the weapon’s broken damage was tied to its bullet penetration stat, as the tactical rifle was set to deal sniper rifle damage instead of outputting stats similar to an assault rifle. This has since been changed, with the fix being only the tip of the iceberg. The weapon now has major damage falloff, dropping the weapon’s effectiveness at range “70% from 2500 units.”
The next change sees recoil increased, with a bump coming after the second and third shot fired. Slight increases to recoil for every shot after will see the weapon being a fair gun that is hard to control as opposed to a laser accurate killing machine. Headshot damage was nerfed further, decreased to “less than 100 damage after 750 units.” Lower torso damage was also dropped, and the DMR’s Front Grip and Field Agent Grip will be less effective at recoil control. With so many changes made to the gun, Call of Duty: Warzone players will likely need to look for some DMR alternatives.
While this is excellent news for Call of Duty: Warzone fans hoping to see the end of the DMR and its overuse by the game’s player base, more good news can be seen in the latest patch notes. The Gallantry MAC-10 blueprint has been fixed, changing the gun’s stats to match that of the base weapon. Previously criticized as pay-to-win due to the battle pass weapon’s superior accuracy and firing pattern, this is a great sign for future Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War weapon additions.
Both the Type 63 and burst pistols saw nerfs as well, and Raven has promised a final fix to Call of Duty: Warzone’s nagging stim glitch. With the “DMRzone” meta finally coming to an end, and player-requested changes to other guns also being carried out, the future of Call of Duty: Warzone is looking bright.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
