Destiny 2: Players Can Now Obtain Randomly Rolled Hawkmoons

Destiny 2 is starting to conclude Season of the Hunt, the first season of Year 4. By now, players have tracked down the Warthborn, quested alongside the Crow, and acquired Hawkmoon. With Destiny 2’s weekly reset, Bungie has deployed presumably the last major beat of this season, a repeatable exotic mission for acquiring better versions of Hawkmoon. Here is what that new mission, Harbinger, is about.

Hawkmoon is a returning Destiny 1 weapon and was initially acquired via a relatively lengthy quest in Destiny 2. It was comprised of two story missions with bits of grinding in between. The weapon is worthwhile despite being different from its original version.

Before starting the Harbinger quest, players are advised to visit the Crow for an additional exotic ship quest that will progress as players complete the mission multiple times. This isn’t required to get more versions of Hawkmoon, but it is a simple quest that awards a unique ship and simply asks the player to run the Harbinger mission multiple times.

To start the main event, players will need to visit the hidden brick wall in the EDZ and launch the mission. This will take them through some underground corridors and maintenance shafts. Then, they will need to do some tricky parkour as they scale a massive dam. After heading inside the structure, combat encounters will start. Players should note that the activity right now is at a challenging 1270 Power and has the Match Game modifier active.

Inside the reservoir, there are 3 Taken Ultras to hunt. After that, a gate will open leading into the boss arena from the first Hawkmoon mission. Surviving that encounter prompts players to go to the boss room of the second Hawkmoon mission. Defeating the final boss will repel the Taken and the Traveler will present players a chest.

It will contain not one but two randomly rolled Hawkmoons, and the Hawkmoon Catalyst if it is the player’s first completion. The Catalyst modifies the main exotic perk to add multiple stats bonuses to Hawkmoon’s already splendid stat sheet, and it simply requires the player to get kills in any activity. After the mission concludes, it becomes available in the EDZ director for easier access.

This is the last piece of content needed to complete the seasonal title, but it seems to be bugged at the moment. Harbinger has multiple Triumphs associated with it, including solo completions and flawless clears. This week the Eververse is offering a Hawkmoon ornament for Bright Dust.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
